Ecce servus meus, suscípiam eum : eléctus meus, complácuit sibi in illo ánima mea : dedi spíritum meum super eum, judícium géntibus próferet.  Non clamábit, neque accípiet persónam, nec audiétur vox ejus foris.  Cálamum quassátum non cónteret, et linum fúmigans non exstínguet : in veritáte edúcet judícium.  Non erit tristis, neque turbuléntus, donec ponat in terra judícium : et legem ejus ínsulæ exspectábunt.

Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.  He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street.  A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth.  He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.

V.  Tu autem, Dómine, miserére nobis.

V.  But thou, O Lord, have mercy upon us.

Thus saith God the Lord, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein: I the Lord have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles; to open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.

R.  Behold, the fulness of the time is come, wherein God hath sent forth his Son into the world, born of a Virgin, made under the law : *  To redeem them that were under the law.
V.  God, for his great love wherewith he loved us, hath sent his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh.

Cantáte Dómino cánticum novum, laus ejus ab extrémis terræ : qui descénditis in mare, et plenitúdo ejus, ínsulæ, et habitatóres eárum.  Sublevétur desértum, et civitátes ejus ; in dómibus habitábit Cedar : laudáte habitatóres Petræ, de vértice móntium clamábunt.  Ponent Dómino glóriam, et laudem ejus in ínsulis nuntiábunt.  Dóminus sicut fortis egrediétur, sicut vir præliátor suscitábit zelum : vociferábitur, et clamábit : super inimícos suos confortábitur.

Sing unto the Lord a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; the isles, and the inhabitants thereof.  Let the wilderness and the cities thereof lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar doth inhabit: let the inhabitants of the rock sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains.  Let them give glory unto the Lord, and declare his praise in the islands.  The Lord shall go forth as a mighty man, he shall stir up jealousy like a man of war: he shall cry, yea, roar; he shall prevail against his enemies.

R.  Virgo Israël, revértere ad civitátes tuas : * Usquequo dolens avertéris? generábis Dóminum Salvatórem, oblatiónem novam in terra : * Ambulábunt hómines in salvatiónem.
V.  In caritáte perpétua diléxi te : ídeo attráxi te míserans tui.

V.  Glória Patri, et Fílio, et Spirítui Sancto.

R.  O virgin of Israel, turn again to thy cities : * How long wilt thou go about sorrowing?  Thou shalt bring forth the Lord thy Saviour, a new offering in the earth : * Men shall walk in the paths of salvation.
V.  I have loved thee with an everlasting love : therefore with loving-kindness have I drawn thee.

The Office of Matins ends after the Third Respond.  The Te Deum is not said, and Lauds normally follows immediately, beginning with the Opening Versicles.  Otherwise, the Conclusion of Matins is read, according to the Rubrics.

The above Antiphon is not said if this day falls on December 21, in which case the following Antiphon is said instead:

Ad Bened. Ant:  Nolíte timére : * quinta enim die véniet ad vos Dóminus noster.

Ant. on Bened:  Be not afraid, * for upon the fifth day our Lord shall come to you.

If this day falls on December 23, ie. the last day before Christmas Eve, the following Antiphon is said:

Ad Bened. Ant:  Ecce compléta sunt * ómnia, quæ dicta sunt per Angelum de Vírgine María.

Ant. on Bened:  Behold, all things are fulfilled, * which were spoken by the Angel of the Virgin Mary.

Excita, quæsumus, Dómine, poténtiam tuam, et veni : et magna nobis virtúte succúrre; ut per auxílium grátiæ tuæ, quod nostra peccáta præpédiunt, indulgéntia tuæ propitiatiónis accéleret : Qui vivis.
